Screen Printed Electrodes (SPE)
Screen-printed electrodes are a versatile tool suitable for various applications due to their numerous advantages, such as miniaturization, mass production, low cost, disposability and minimal reagent consumption.
These electrodes are manufactured through screen printing, which utilizes Thin Film Technology (TFT).
By depositing layers of conductive and dielectric inks onto an insulating substrate, the screen printer can produce electrodes on various substrates, such as polyester and ceramic materials.

This technology has enabled the replacement of bulky electrodes that required cleaning with miniaturized, flexible devices that ensure low production costs.
This type of printing allows for the formation of an electrochemical cell directly on the chosen substrate, consisting of a working electrode, a reference electrode and a counter electrode.
Each of these three electrodes is fabricated using inks or pastes that, in addition to containing the functional component, include a mixture of solvents and polymeric materials. This mixture is crucial in determining the properties of viscosity, conductivity, and resistance to thermal variations.
